Does your brand claim the value of social interaction? Do you give people a reason to connect or gather?
Lasting Value
Today I was at the Salt Spring Island Farmers Market, a packed, energy filled crowd, entertained by live music and the quirky farmers. The Farmers Market is a perfect example of what social media marketers should be looking to create, online or off.
By coming together, providing a reason for people to interact, adding entertainment value and connecting with individuals, the farmers are a part of a very valuable community.
A Reason and a Way
Today’s communication mediums allow anyone to share experiences, ideas or their feelings about your brand. The challenge for marketers is to give people a reason, something special or worth talking about. This could be an event, something special you’re doing for charity, a unique product just for your fans or a phenomenal prize. Reward your fans for their attention.
The Farmers Market is entertainment, fresh and local food and a great environment and that’s why I go there and that’s why I’m writing about it, posting pictures and bragging to my Facebook friends that I am loving the island life. It gave me a reason.
What’s your Reason?
Do you provide a reason and a way for your current or potential fans to interact? Is your blog full of value, are you out an about in your community on and offline? Why would someone want to visit/follow or purchase from you?
Your answers to those questions should help steer your online strategy.
