For the past 7 weeks I’ve been traveling through South East Asia (our travel blog is still being updated check it out here). It was hard leaving the routine of sedentary city life, but hey, someone’s got to do it.
The experience was eye opening, driving home realities that I would otherwise easily keep out of sight and mind. I return to a world of opportunities, with a better understanding of the responsibilities that I have as a citizen of a priviledged nation.
The democratization of media enabled by the internet represents a mound of opportunity for ventures that make a difference. Capitalizing on goodwill, a good brand and a good heart is a growing opportunity . I will have the honor of attending Renewal Partners Social Venture Institute this week, where over one hundred social entrepreneurs will network, share and expand their knowledge in the social venture field.
SVI offers the mission-based entrepreneur an opportunity to share challenges, successes, and experiences with peers in an atmosphere of trust and goodwill. Each attendee brings a commitment of social change to their enterprise, whether a for-profit business or a non-profit organization.
I will be representing Watch for Change Media, a non-profit organization I co-founded with 4 other talented individuals. I’m looking forward to making some great connections over the next few days.
