Believe Al Gore or believe Glen Beck, it’s doesn’t matter much to me anymore, in some way I think both of them have done a disservice to the earth.
Pardon the interruption/rant, today is Blog Action Day, a day where bloggers from around the world use their voice, how ever large or small, to affect change, encourage action or raise awareness. This years topic is Global Warming.
I hate Global Warming
Not because I don’t believe in it, but because it gives an easy point of disagreement to those people who fear change. Despite what seems to be insurmountable evidence proving that our earth is warming, Arctic and Antarctic ice is melting, storm activity is increasing and carbon levels in our atmosphere are catapulting higher and higher, the very science behind such “proof” leaves the door open to deniers. To which I say:
Fine, Deny Global Warming
But there’s something we can’t deny. Human beings are having an adverse effect on our planet. We’re paving farmland, replacing forests with condos, extracting resources to be made into things for you and me.
We need to take action to protect the earth that our kids and grand kids will inherit. Call it global warming, call it a global-cluster-fuck, it doesn’t matter to me. Just call it something, call it real and askĀ a question, What can we do?
Of course, that’s the tough question, and I’m not sure I have any more answers than you, but here are a few places to start. My friend Brendan has a great list he calls Support Something, David Suzuki has a list of things your business could do and TckTckTck with help from Giant Media has just finished a compelling video asking you to take action.
Call it what you want, but something needs to change.
We’re Ready
