Sarah Palin to Canada: “You need to Reform Your Health Care System”

by Jess Sloss on November 26, 2009

in No Way!

Marg Delahunty, aka Mary Walsh, from This Hour has 22 Minutes tries to interview Sarah Palin, get’s kicked out and receives a gem of advice from America’s favorite walking talking point.

Palin’s Advice for Canada

Delahunty: “Any words of advice for Canadian Conservatives who have worked so hard to try to diminish that kinda socialized medicine we have up there? ”

Palin: “Keep the faith cause that common sense conservatism can be plugged in there in Canada too. In fact Canada needs to reform it’s health care system let the private sector take over some of what the government has absorbed.”

Delahunty: “Good luck in 2012! It’s the end of the world anyways so what odds!”

Oh man. I bet Palin can see Canada from her House.

As a (lightly put) conservative my only fear with Government controlled health care is not the effectiveness of how good or bad it can be, but the fact that we see so many politicians become corrupt. Whats not to say the plague doesn't infiltrate the reformed system and become worse? Not to say the private industry isn't corrupt tho.
  • Anyone can become corrupt.

That's why we have a constitution and general legal framework that outlines
what's acceptable to our society, Laws that are added to our updated as our
    society grows and changes.

The problem with Private health care is that the legal obligation of a
Corporate Executives is to earn money on behalf of it's share holders.

In no way does it have an obligation to the general public, not to mention
    the future of a country.

If Politicians are corrupt it's because of failures within a system, not
    because of the system.

Let's work on a more fair and open government rather than suggesting a
system, that has done amazing things for Canadian citizens, be replaced with
a failed system such as the one in the United States.

As much as we complain about the Canadian System, there is no way we'll
switch to the system in the US. Not a chance.
  • Hilarious! That makes me so proud of my east coast roots. :)
  • She's awesome, just barges right in there. Love it!

OMG. Let the Americans have her and her dark ages, 'common sense' conservatism. As an average Canadian, I'm quite happy knowing that fundamental health care is something that is available to ALL our citizens. Does it get any more fundamental than that?
  • I don't think it does. :)
