How Social Media is Changing Consumer Expectations via @Garyvee

in Business,the Social Web

As business and individual use of social media evolves, Gary Vaynerchuck of Wine Library and author of Crush It shares why success in business might come down to how well you can Scale your Caring

Scale Your Caring

Gary has a great point. Consumer expectations change. Free shipping, broadband internet at hotels and a response to a blog post were once rare and are now expected. As brands and celebrities use social media tools to build their audience, the direct and personal nature of Social Networks means another change in expectations.

The expectations of Trust, Authenticity and at least some degree of Transparency, are becoming more normal. The shift from a broadcast style communications to dialogue is well underway and the growth of the personal brand and social influence has made any interaction online a possible business builder.

Which leaves me with one question.

Question

My question is, who’s going to help these businesses do it? Communicating on a personal level at scale is either challenging or costly. Could the PR and Marketing industries face further changes as more businesses build internal communications teams or have Agencies adapted to these new expectations?
