From Dork to … turning desk work into Art

Arting up your workday with the http://iographica.com/ application

So there you were, watching the Oscar’s, staring at your blank walls, wishing you were a cool artist and that it wasn’t just you and your Avatar toys cheering on James Cameron. Instead, maybe you were hosting a wild and crazy art party. I mean, have you heard what happens at those things???

Now you too can be a hip, upcoming artist.  Do you need artistic sensibilities? NO. Paints, canvas, and other art supplies? NO! All you need is your desk job or some free time, a computer, and http://iographica.com/. Start right now, and have a new art portfolio by the end of the day.

Simply download the Iographica application, click on it, start it up, minimize it, and let it run in the backround. It tracks all your mouse movements for the recording period. Where your mouse stops for an extended period of time, a circle will appear, and will increase in intensity depending on the amount of time your mouse is motionless.

Don’t like all the circles, and simply prefer the scratch behind? No problem, you can save the file without the circles.

(An example of the scratch behind the circles. I actually prefer this. Great art potential.)

At the end of the day, or the end of the week, save your file, and BOOM, you’re an artist! Get that thing printed up (perhaps evenly professionally), and make it a focal point to your old, boring room.

Maybe you want to make some adjustments. You can open the file in your preferred Photoshop/Illustrator, and get results like below within a couple minutes. Abstract? Yes. A fun way to turn your work day into art? Certainly!

Enjoy!
