Vancouver 2010 Monopoly Tickets

by Jess Sloss on September 27, 2008

You know what really grinds my gears? Ticket surcharges. Tickemaster has been the “master” of the service fee game for years, but not any longer. Say hello to the new big service fee on the block, it’s called the 2010 Vancouver Olympics.

VANOC’s Caley Denton announced yesterday that service fees on olympic tickets would range from $4 to $18 per ticket plus an additional delivery fee. Not a bad few days work for tickets.com. Charges go towards “administrative and transportation costs”. On the bright side, if you have a ticket you will able to ride public transit for free on the day of your event.

How much can it really cost to administer the sales of tickets? I guess I need to get into the ticket monopoly business!

At least the fees aren’t going to ticketmaster.
